WALKING
THE SAINTS WAY - Just a stones throw away and accessible from the Meadow. An ancient Celtic route of Pilgrims past.
Now a well-trodden path, a 30 mile coast to coast hike from the well known fishing port of Padstow, passing through our lovely village and finishing at the 1460 St Fimbarrus Church of Fowey.
COASTAL EXPLORATION - With over 290 miles of Cornish Coastline you are totally spoilt for choice. When it comes to breathtaking views and spectacular scenery Kernow really has it all. Home to coastal castles, exceptional estuaries and diving dolphins and just don't forget your walking boots and you can explore it all.

CARDINHAM WOODS - Cardinham at just a 20 min drive toward Bodmin is a beautiful mixed woodland, popular with local dog walkers, cyclists, and horse riders.
Several waymarked trails will take you deep into the woods to discover stunning viewpoints and an intriguing history, and Woods Cafe will help you refuel after your adventure.

DAYS OUT
FOWEY - Our closest town, and what a beautiful town it is. Steeped in history, friendly and warm, filled with quirky Cornish shops, great local produce and a view from the quay that has inspired many. Take a boat trip to the nearby Polruan or the ferry to Mevagissey, hire a kayak and explore the water or head down river and check out Readymoney Cove and St Catherines Castle.
EDEN PROJECT - We are located just 4.1 miles from this one of a kind botanical garden. In 1995 the current site was still a working clay pit. Just over 6 years later and it opened its doors, even then dubbed "the eighth wonder of the world". Now, 17 years later it continues to grow, evolve and is more fascinating than ever. Whether your 1st or 40th visit, you will not be disappointed.

LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN - First built in the 1200's, Heligan Manor became the home of the Tremayne family for centuries. By 1914 it had become one of the greatest botanical estate in the U.K. During what many describe as the lost years, both the First and Second World War took its toll and Heligans wonder soon became a part of history.
Unwilling for this to continue, in 1990 the know Sir Tim Smit and John Willis (Tremayne) discovered the secret gardens we know have today. A real wonder for the whole family, four legged friends included, certainly not to be missed.

CHARLESTOWN - Once a Georgian working port, Charlestown is home to the Shipwreck, Rescue and Heritage centre and beautiful examples of Square Rigger Ships that really do transport you to a bygone era.
Now a filming location for the likes of Poldark and The Eagle has Landed, Charlestown is a charming port with plenty to see and an array of wonderful pubs and restaurants.

LOOE & POLPERRO - Located just East of Fowey lies Polperro, a 6.8 mile coastal walk or 7.2 mile drive via the short ferry crossing to Bodinnick. A charming little village with a small harbour and a lovely selection of eateries and independent shops. Move a little further up the coast and you will find Looe, a bustling town with an expansive beach, banjo pier and great rock pools as well as shops, restaurants and a regular fish market.

Our location on the South Coast in Mid- Cornwall makes us a great base to explore much of Cornwalls attractions, from the better known Newquay and Padstow on the North Coast at around a 40 minute drive and St Mawes, Truro and Falmouth heading West at around 30-40 minutes.
You can also visit some of the lesser know villages of Lostwithiel (Cornwalls ancient capital and an antique lovers dream), Mevagissey and Gorran Haven (fishing villages on the roseland peninsula) all at less than 25 minutes by car.
ON THE RIVER FOWEY
ENCOUNTER CORNWALL - At the heart of the Fowey Estuary and just a short walk down into the village,

During high tide you can explore the creeks and back waters and at low tide down head down river and check out Fowey. FOWEY BOAT HIRE - If you fancy something a little more leisurely, self drive boat hire may be for you. With several options there is something for everyone, available for half day, whole day or even full week hire, no experience required and taking up to 7 people. Located on The Albert Quay they are easy to find and very helpful.

PUBS - We are lucky to have a great selection of Cornish Inns all within a 10 mile radius. Whether your an ale drinker or cocktail lover there is somewhere for you. A few of our favourites:

The Fishermans Arms, Golant - Take a 7-8 minute walk down the hill into Golant an you will find our cosy local village pub, you will be met by Nick and his team who promise to offer you a selection of fresh cooked local produce and a warm welcome. Our lovely crowd of villagers will help you feel at home and the view of the river will just top it all off. Dogs are more than welcome and will have plenty of friends so do take them along.

The New Inn, Tywardreath - A short 3 minute drive into the next village of Tywardreath is the New Inn, 2014 CAMRA Kernow village pub of the year and a guest favourite The Strand Bistro. Serving a great selection of ales and an eclectic menu to suit all the family, pets are also welcome in the bar areas so a great choice.

CAFES - If your looking for quirky Cornish cafes you won't have to look hard, as well as your at home go-to's we are surrounded by independent coffee shops serving great cakes, breakfast dishes and light lunches. Our pick of the bunch would be Pinky Murphys in Fowey and Charlies Coffee House in Charlestown.

RESTAURANTS - We are blessed to be in a part of the country renowned for its fresh, locally caught seafood including Fowey River Mussels, if you are not a fish lover, don't panic, you can also find a great local Kittows steak, a wonderful vegan curry or skip the main and head straight for a selection of Cornish Clotted Cream ice creams.
As well as previously mentioned hearty pub dinners, for something a little special why not try one of our personal favourites, a romantic dinner or special celebration.

ADRENALINE JUNKIE
HORSE RIDING - there are many riding stables in Cornwall but here are a few of our personal favourites.

For beginners Newquay Riding Stables offer a one hour trek from their base on the boating lake at Newquay, heading down The Gannel river towards Crantock Beach. For more experienced riders consider a two hour trek taking in the beauty of the North Cornwall Coastline.

If you like to hack through the woods and away from traffic, why not try Polmartin Farm Stables, located on the other side of the Fowey river. With around 60 acres of land you can ride out through the beautiful countryside or book a lesson in their all weather sand school.

Located on the North Coast just outside of Perranporth you will find Reen Manor Stables. Here they offer a variety of options from 1/2 hr childrens rides to a 3hr pub trek for the adults. Don't forget to pack your beach gear and you head down to Perranporth for an afternoon relaxing on the expansive Perran Sands.

WATERSPORTS - Cornwall has so many options for watersports, whether your a real adrenaline junkie or if you'd rather a more relaxed approach you are spoilt for choice.
Heres a couple of ideas to get you started.

Polkerris watersports for lessons and equipment hire, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, wind surfing and even power boating.

Cornwall Waverunner Safaris for something a little more extreme, why not try a jet-ski safari, a power boat tour, some coastal abseiling or get out and learn to surf.

BEACH DAYS
POLKERRIS - our most popular local beach. Great for families with young children and those wanting to have fun in the water. Polkerris watersports offer hire of equipment as well as lessons.

READYMONEY - A small cove located at the far end of Fowey, great for swimming and watching the boats on the river. Readymoney beach cafe offers refreshments and facilities.

POLRIDMOUTH - Great for those eager to escape the hustle of some of our more accessible beaches. Roughly a 10-15 minute walk from a field car park, safe for swimming and dog friendly all year.

LANTIC BAY - You'll need to pop your walking legs on or hire a boat for this one but trust us it's worth it. Located on the other side of the river, get the Polruan Ferry if you fancy a trek or take the Bodinnick Ferry by Car if you like to get a little closer.
​
PAR - An expanse of sand located just a 5 minute drive away, very shallow waters and the perfect place for dogs, dog friendly all year and great for long walks. Take the cliff path towards Polkerris to explore further,

CRANTOCK, FISTRAL AND WATERGATE BAY - Some of our favourite North Coast Beaches. All our quite easy to access, good for those searching for a bit more swell. Dog friendly all year round.
